When do I need to show my ID card?
You will need to use your ID card to access the libraries on campus, and may need to use it to access other buildings, such as your department, your student accommodation, sports facilities, or study spaces. You may need to have your ID card added to your School or College's swipe card system. You will also use it to access printing facilities on campus, and to purchase food if you are on meal plan. The ID card works with both barcode and proximity readers.
You should show your ID card if a member of staff at the University asks you to do so. Students are given the following advice:
- 'As a registered student you will be required to produce your University Identity Card to confirm your identity when asked to do so by a member of University staff. Failure to disclose identity (i.e. your name, University ID number, your address and School at the University) to a member of staff of the University where it is reasonable to require that such information be given shall be deemed a breach of Section 5.2.10 of the University Regulations and disciplinary action will be taken in line with Section 8.2.1 of the University Regulations'.
