The Development Needs Analysis - what is it, do I have to do it?
The Development Needs Analysis (DNA) is an annual process which all postgraduate researchers are required to complete with their supervisor. It helps you think about the skills you’ll need for the coming year, and how to develop them.
The completion of a DNA form is required on a yearly basis. You should aim to complete your DNA near the beginning of each year to give you time to do the activities you identify. Some schools also complete a second DNA as part of the progress review. The DNA is for all postgraduate researchers, not just first years. This is because your development and skills needs change year on year.
You can find more information about the DNA, including the forms to complete, on the University Graduate School website.
