What is UoB Elevate?
Located at The Exchange, UoB Elevate is an incubator and business growth programme for University of Birmingham students and graduates. Through this initiative we can help you to develop your own venture, and support you to create your own possibilities beyond the established graduate route.
This established programme based at The Exchange Building in Birmingham City Centre is now recruiting the second cohort. There are two parts to the application process. You will need to complete an online application form and if successful, you will be invited to pitch your idea to an independent panel.

Applications for the September 2022 intake have now closed. New dates for future UoB Elevate cohorts in 2023 will be released in the future. If you wish to apply for the next round of applications you can make an application in advance using the below form, or contact the B-Enterprising Team to express your interest by emailing firstname.lastname@example.org.

UoB Elevate is open to University of Birmingham students and graduates from all disciplines. We welcome applications from all types of businesses. We typically accept:
Businesses that can demonstrate traction (be it users, customers, revenue, investors and/or key partners). This includes freelancers or those who are self-employed.
High-potential early stage ideas.
Social enterprises or other community impact organisations that can demonstrate traction.
- International students who wish to start a business in the UK are welcome to apply. Further information on how we can support you with your start-up visa endorsement can be found on the B-Enterprising Start-Up Visa webpage.
Businesses with at least 50% UoB student/graduate ownership of the business will be preferred, lower UoB student/graduate ownership percentages will be considered on a case-by-case basis.
Key dates - Cohort 2 (September 2022)
Our second cohort of businesses will gain access to our incubator programme from September 2022. Our application window will appear very soon and will include the below key dates:
- UoB Elevate Programme Application deadline - Sunday 26 June 2022
- Interviews - From Mid July 2022
(Dates will be communicated to successful applicants)
- Formal Incubation starts - Monday 12 September 2022
£15,000 University of Birmingham Startup Scholarship
We have an opportunity for finalists and graduates (up to five years after graduation) to apply for a £15,000 University of Birmingham Start-Up Scholarship. This scholarship is exclusive to UoB participants who are enrolled on the UoB Elevate programme. This is a one year scholarship - payments are made in three instalments over a one year period to help support you in getting started and scaling your business idea.

About UoB Elevate
This programme aims to support UoB startups onto the next level with, funding, incubation space, support and talent. UoB Elevate is the dedicated incubator and business growth programme designed to support University of Birmingham Student and Graduate entrepreneurs to the next level of their growth.
