The following work experience opportunities are available to University of Birmingham students and graduates.

As an undergraduate or postgraduate, you can use your experiences to complete the University’s employability skills award – The Birmingham Award. Doing this Award helps to develop and recognise the skills you have gained through your work experience. It’s also a great way to prepare for future applications and interviews.

Future Focused Micro Internships

(Coming soon. Running in March/April and June 2026) For undergraduate penultimate & final years with no work experience. In-person work experience with a sustainability focus

Open to eligible undergraduate penultimate & final year students, solving a business challenge

Work Experience Funding

Funding is also available from Careers Network to support certain eligible students to attend unpaid or low paid work experience outside of the University. Please visit the Gateway to Work Experience Bursary. For postgraduates, the Postgraduate Work Experience Bursary is available to assist attendance.
