Preparing for your thesis submission event

Research Student Administration (RSA) run two 'preparing for your thesis submission' events each year (usually in May and November). These are aimed at Postgraduate Researchers who are due to submit their thesis in the next 12 months. RSA run both an in person and online event, details of what to expect from these events, along with material from the previous events, can be found below.

Attendance at the events will give you the opportunity to ask questions and receive advice from the Research Student Administration team on the below: 

  • How to submit your thesis 

  • Alternative formats 

  • Viva examination 

  • Corrections and resubmission 

  • Requirements for award 

  • Continuation fees 

  • Word counts

Who will be at the event

As well as Research Student Administration, staff from other University services with involvement in the thesis submission process and beyond are also present should you have any questions about the services they offer. These include:

In person event

 

Date: Wednesday 30th October 2024
Time: 10am - 1pm
Location: Westmere House, Edgbaston Park Road (G15 on the campus map)

The in person event is a drop-in session where the services listed above will be in attendance to answer any questions you may have around the submission process and beyond. Each area will have a stall which you can visit for advice on the services they offer. Please note there are no presentations at the in-person event.
Please book your place by filling in this form. The form asks you to select the time you plan to arrive. This is to make sure that the venue doesn't become overcrowded. We may contact you to ask you to arrive at a later time if the time you select is full. You should then receive an email confirming your booking.

Online event

Date: Tuesday 29th October 2024
Time: 10am - 12pm 

Location: Microsoft Teams

The online event consists of presentations from various University services who have an involvement in the thesis submission process and beyond. There will also be a live presentation delivered by Research Student Administration which will take you through the submission process. You will have the opportunity to ask questions after each presentation regarding the services each area offers. Please register here.

Who can attend?

If you are a PGR whose thesis submission deadline falls within the next 12 months you will receive an email inviting you to the next event. However, all PGRs and staff who deal with PGR-related activity are welcome to come along to the event to ask any questions they may have and meet the teams.
