Preparing for your thesis submission event

Research Student Administration (RSA) are hosting the next 'preparing for your thesis submission' events. These are aimed at Postgraduate Researchers who are due to submit their thesis in the next 12 months.

Attendance at the events will give you the opportunity to ask questions and receive advice from the Research Student Administration team on the below: 

  • How to submit your thesis 

  • Alternative formats 

  • Viva examination 

  • Corrections and resubmission 

  • Requirements for award 

  • Continuation fee 

  • Word counts 

Staff from the University Graduate School (including careers network for PGRs), Birmingham Environment for Academic Research (BEAR), Research Skills, Library Services and other student support services will also be in attendance to answer any questions you may have.  

We will be running two sessions as detailed below:  

In person event, Tuesday 21 May 2024

Date: Tuesday 21 May 2024  

Time: 10am to 1pm  

Location: Westmere House, Edgbaston Park Road (G15 on the campus map) **

**If you wish to attend the in-person event, booking is essential. Please see the book your place section below. 

This will be a drop-in session where different services will be in attendance to answer any questions you may have around the submission process and beyond. Each area will have a stall which you can visit for advice on the services they offer.

2.     On the right hand side, select 10:00am 

3.     Enter your first name and surname in the required fields 

4.     Enter your email address in the required field 

5.     Select an arrival time from the drop down list. 

6.     Select update booking 

7.     You should then receive and email with confirmation of your booking 

Online event, Wednesday 22 May 2024

Date: Wednesday 22 May 2024  

Time: 10am to 12pm  

Location: online 
 
This will consist of pre-recorded presentations from various University services who have an involvement in the thesis submission process and beyond. There will also be a live presentation delivered by Research Student Administration which will take you through the submission process. You will have the opportunity to ask questions after each presentation regarding the services each area offers.

Who can attend?

If you are a PGR whose thesis submission deadline falls within the next 12 months you will receive an email inviting you to the next event. However, all PGRs and staff who deal with PGR-related activity are welcome to come along to the event to ask any questions they may have and meet the teams.
