Updating your staff profile information in Pure

Your staff profile page and the Pure Research Portal both draw information directly from Pure, removing the need to enter the same information into more than one place.  As well as showing your research outputs, you can also update the Biography and Research Interests sections of the staff profile within Pure.

Follow our 6 quick steps to get your profile ready

  • Click 'edit profile' on your personal overview tab.
  • Scroll down and select 'Add profile information..'

  • To add a link to another site such as ResearchGate or Twitter, select 'add link'
  • Ensure you click 'save' at the bottom of the page when you're finished.

Is your publication list up to date?

Are there any outputs in your list that are not yours?  If so, all you need to do is disclaim them.  In the research outputs screen hover over the output you want to disclaim, click on the cog and select disclaim content.

Do you have any duplicate records? If you do, they can be reported to the Library at ubira@lists.bham.ac.uk and they will merge the records.

Is your information 'healthy'? Are the records up to date? Are the authors correctly matched to staff? Have you uploaded a full text of the output and is it the correct version?  Is there a DOI? Try to add this information where possible so that others can find and access your work.

Does anything need to be made confidential?

We understand there are certain pieces of research that should not be openly available and you are able to restrict access to both outputs records and projects.

If you are undertaking research where you have committed to a privacy clause or is sensitive it is still important that they are on Pure, however, these can be restricted to ensure that they are not searchable.

Open the record and scroll down towards the end of the record.

Click the visibility drop down menu and select the appropriate level of visibility.

Adding an ORCiD ID

Your ORCiD ID is unique to you and could be the gateway to other research being viewed and discovered more widely.  Why not make everyone aware of your ORCiD and potentially increase the exposure of your work?

For further information about ORCiD IDs and how to add an ORCiD ID to your Pure page see our intranet page ORCiD and Pure

Adding Relations

Pure is able to show how research activity at the University links together.  You can help develop this by adding relations between your outputs, activities and projects etc.  If your output is the result of funding, or linked to an activity or impact you have created in Pure you should create relations between the records.

  • Open the publication record
  • Scroll down to 'relations' and select the appropriate icon.
  • Search for your impact, project or activity etc and select the appropriate entry.
  • Ensure you click save at the bottom of the page.
