Workplace health and safety

The University of Birmingham is committed to providing and maintaining a healthy and safe working environment for all its employees, students and any other people who may be affected by its activities. This commitment is expressed in the University's Health and Safety Policy Statement.

The University's Safety Services' role is to assist the University in the development and implementation of University Health and Safety Policy and to provide expert advice.

Safety Services have scientific and technical expertise provided by professionally qualified advisers.  

The team works closely with other departments in the University, in particular Occupational Health, and with external agencies.
