Employer Liaison in China - Return to Shanghai

For the second time Gloria Barber, Postgraduate Employer Liaison Manager for the Business School’s Careers in Business team, visited Shanghai to engage with employers and seek job opportunities for Chinese returnee graduates. This again was in partnership with Ewan Henry, the Employer Liaison representative from Nottingham University Business School.

The companies they met with included IBM, Diageo, UBS, AlphaSights, Mattel, Apple, Omnicom Media Group, Mondelez, Shanghai Electric, Neilson, Mars and Roland Berger. Since returning Careers in Business has been promoting opportunities at several of these companies.

Student treks to EY and PayPal were also arranged for some of the Business School recent graduates. These visits were organised as a result of last year’s Employer Visits. Presentations and office tours were given to the graduates who attended with useful information regarding the opportunities offered by both companies.

Gloria and Ewan Henry from Nottingham also hosted an alumni social event which was attended by 60 alumni from Birmingham and Nottingham.

The visit proved to be a very successful way of finding opportunities for our students, gaining insights into selection and assessment processes and promoting the brand of the University of Birmingham.
