Quick Colleague Catch-up - Claire O'Driscoll

Claire O’Driscoll, Degree Apprenticeship (and Executive Education) Facilitator, would like to share some information about herself, her role at the University, and how she can support colleagues in the School.

About me

Having graduated from the University of Birmingham with a degree in French and Spanish, I joined the University’s Graduate Management Training Scheme in September 2015. Over the next two years, I had the exciting opportunity to work across a number of different departments and projects, including curriculum development in the Centre for Learning and Academic Development, digital student recruitment campaigns in the UK/EU Student Recruitment Team, Business Engagement in CoSS and change management in the Strategic Change Team. I also Project Managed the BUAFTAs 2017, which was a fantastic experience.

Finishing the scheme in August 2017, I was keen to move into a role that would build on the skills and knowledge I have developed, and am now really excited to be working as the Degree Apprenticeships Facilitator in the College of Social Sciences.

In my spare time, I enjoy travelling, going to the cinema and theatre, trying out the various independent restaurants the city has to offer, and I also play a little tennis.

My Role

I am the Professional Services lead for Degree Apprenticeships in the College. Based within the Business Engagement team, my role is to facilitate the development of Degree Apprenticeship programmes within the College by identifying funding opportunities and providing professional support for bid writing.

As the DAF, I will work with Professional Services and academic colleagues to lead the development and delivery of Degree Apprenticeships; from initiating discussions with potential business partners, to seeing proposals through internal approval processes. With a dotted line to the Senior Manager for Degree Apprenticeships, I will ensure the College’s strategy and approach aligns with the wider picture of Degree Apprenticeship development across the University.

I am here to help you, so please get in touch if:

  • You would like to know more about how Degree Apprenticeships work
  • You would like to discuss what opportunities there are in your area
  • You have been approached by an external organisation about Degree Apprenticeships
  • You would like to know more about what the College is doing in the Degree Apprenticeship space

You can contact me by email at c.odriscoll@bham.ac.uk or phone (0121 41) 45014.

I look forward to working with you.
