Arts, Law, Humanities, and Social Sciences Discovery Day
Nearly 100 year 10 students and accompanying staff visited the University to take part in an Arts, Law, Humanities and Social Sciences Discovery Day on 25 June. Working with colleagues in Student Recruitment and Outreach, the event targeted schools that are within a 2 hours drive from the University's Edgbaston campus. The aim of the event was to encourage students to find out more about the subjects they can study at university with a view to informing their A-level choices.
Attendees enjoyed a welcome lecture, a College of Arts and Law (CAL) subject workshop, lunch, and a campus tour, which was very popular. They also attended a College of Social Sciences (CoSS) subject workshop and a session on careers with a quiz at the end of the day.
The Discovery Day mainly took place in various locations in the Arts building, with one workshop at the Cadbury Research Library in Muirhead.
The organisers, Helen Murray, Student Experience Manger CAL, and Graham Timmins, Director of Education COSS, sent their thanks to all University staff and student ambassadors who contributed their time to make this such a successful event.
