Hello Gamer is the first mobile app to connect women gamers based on their gaming preferences. The company was founded by Engineering graduate, Gemini Joshi.
The face of gaming is changing with a huge uptake in people playing and watching video game content online. Yet, sexism and harassment are still experienced by over 68% of female gamers in multiplayer lobbies (Independent, 2021). Hello Gamer aims to be a space for gamers to connect with like-minded people without the fear of online harassment. We want to be more than just a platform; we want to create a community where women can develop long-lasting friendships and grow their interests to promote a more inclusive industry.
From working at The Exchange I hope to build a strong business foundation and join a community of start-up founders to learn from and be inspired by. Currently, we are working to create a prototype app for user testing and predict we will be looking for seed funding circa Spring 2022.
Gemini's story:
I am a professional FPS player, at least that's what I like to tell myself. Realistically, I'm not too good at gaming but that doesn't stop me from having fun. Growing up, I didn't have easy access to games so I would instead watch YouTubers play them, these years of vicarious gaming probably led to my over-confidence. Besides gaming, my hobbies range from reading, watching anime, meditating and fitness.
