Competition Terms and Conditions

Be Proud Competition

To celebrate you and your proud moments, we’re giving you the chance to win one of five exam care packages worth £80*. All you have to do is tell us the one thing you’re proud of before 28 March 2025 and submit it below. We’ll then randomly select 5 winners and contact them individually to collect the prize during the week of 31 March 2025. 

The Prize

We will announce the five winning entries after the 28 March and before the 31 March. Each winner will receive one of five exam care packages worth up to £80*. We will publish the winning entry as an online publication available on the University of Birmingham’s website.

Terms and conditions 

  • Only one entry per person is permitted. 
  • By entering the competition entrants confirm that they are the copyright owners of any works submitted, which will be their own original works and that such works or the use of such works will not infringe the rights of any third party. 
  • Any works submitted must not be defamatory of any living person or corporate body. 
  • By entering the competition entrants confirm that they are happy for their work to be published on the University of Birmingham’s website and for their works to be used for promotional and publicity purposes without notice or without any fee being paid. 
  • In relation to all competitions, the first name and surname of the winner may be published by the University of Birmingham and entrants grant the University of Birmingham a non-exclusive licence to use and publish their entry in any media for the purpose of announcing the winner.  The entrant may withdraw their consent at any time and the entry will be removed from any website within 28 days and will not be used in any future publications. It will not be possible to remove any entry from publications already printed or shared digitally. 
  • Personal data which is provided by entrants when they submit their entry will be held in accordance with the Data Protection Act 2018 and used by the University of Birmingham in order to administer the competition.  Personal data collected by the University of Birmingham will be deleted on or before 30 September 2025. 
  • The University of Birmingham will attempt to notify competition winners within 14 days of the closing date. They will be contacted on the phone number and/or email address provided when entering the competition. The winner will have 6 months to claim their prize. If the University of Birmingham is unable to notify the winner, or if the winner fails to respond within 6 months of notification, the prize may be forfeited. 
  • Any person who enters or attempts to enter the competition in a manner, which the University of Birmingham considers is contrary to these terms and conditions or by its nature is unfair to other entrants may be removed from the competition at the sole discretion of the University of Birmingham. 
  • The prize is as specified in the competition information. The decision of the University of Birmingham in all matters under its control is final and binding and no correspondence will be entered into. 
  • The University of Birmingham will make available the prize to the winner within 28 days from the date announcement. The winner is responsible for claiming their prize unless otherwise specified. 
  • There is no minimum age. However, entrants under the age of 18 must provide contact details of a parent or guardian when entering. 
  • By entering the competition, entrants agree to be bound by these terms and conditions and the University of Birmingham reserves the right to exclude any entry from the competition at any time and at its absolute discretion if it believes that any entrant has breached these terms and conditions.
