Meet the Work Experience and Student Opportunities Team

The Work Experience and Student Opportunities team are a friendly bunch of Careers Network specialists, passionate about helping students like you boost your professional development and employability.

We deliver several 'How to' workshops each semester to help you get started, find and get work experience. These are listed on Careers Network's online events page

We also run a range of UoB work experience programmes and some of us focus on supporting specific Colleges too.

Who we are

Alison Sharp - Head of Work Experience and Student Opportunity
I lead the team to help you get valuable experience ready for jobs and future careers.  I want you to confident being you, spotting and joining the different opportunities to continually grow and be bold. It's sometimes hard to go out of your comfort zone, but trying new things can be very exciting and energising.  I'm learning to knit!

Andrada Bramall -  Work Experience Lead (Life and Environmental Sciences)
My focus is on supporting students in finding and securing work experience through individual and group activities, bespoke internship programmes, employer challenges, and other employability opportunities. Not necessarily related to my role but, I love music and am always keen for new recommendations!

Sarah Garner - Work Experience Lead (College of Arts and Law)
Within the College of Arts and Law, I support students in finding , applying for, and completing valuable work experience, including exclusive internships through the B Experienced programme. With a background in teaching, retail, hospitality and film buying, I’m always happy to reassure students that it’s okay not to have it all figured out yet!

Work Experience Lead (STEM) - staff member joining soon!
This post supports students to explore exciting opportunities related to STEM, helping students build skills and competencies for impactful careers.  The post-holder supports activities in the College of Engineering and Physical Sciences and the College of Medicine and Health.

Helen Hobson - Work Experience Lead (EDI)
I work closely with employers to develop meaningful, inclusive work experiences for our students. I'm here to help you take confident steps toward your future career, and am linked to the College of Social Sciences.

Lisa Shaw - Work Experience & Mentoring Lead (EDI)
I joined UoB 8 years ago, starting as a Careers Advisor and now focusing on increasing engagement in Mentoring and Work Experience for under-represented students and graduates. I develop/ deliver bespoke programmes and support career journeys. I love to sing and can often be heard singing quietly in the office! (not sure how my colleagues feel about this)

Habibah Amin - Work Experience Project Officer
An alumna of the University, I thoroughly enjoy my areas of work with students and employers. I lead The Gateway to Work Experience Bursary, organise Employer Insight Days and ensure we are on track with data and spreadsheets. I am also completing my Project Management Qualification.

Hannah Seager - Work Experience and Student Opportunities Administrator
As Operations Administrator, I support the smooth running of our employability programmes. I help make sure everything’s organised, accessible, and ready for students to get the most out of their experience.
