DL: At the University of Birmingham, we aim to empower our studentsfor success in work, life and in future study. My advice would be to get involved. Make the most of everything that university has to offer.
JH: The degree is what you come to university primarily for, and you want to make sure that you do well and excel academically. You want a good degree, but you also need to be able to demonstrate that you'll be a rounded, a rounded person, a reliable employee, a good team-mate in future, you know, a good leader.
VS: What I would say that makes Birmingham graduates specifically attractive is their curiosity. They want to know about other, they're interested in not just their own discipline, but something that's a bit broader than that. And they want to learn from those people around them, both the academics and actually their peers as well. This transfers super well into a work environment.
AS: It's important that you're able to communicate and collaborate with people across all different backgrounds and audiences. When you think of how diverse we are as a population, we need to be able to make sure that there's no barriers.
VS: When I was a student here and I did all kinds of different things, it really helped me to enjoy having those conversations with people and being open to the discussions and the narratives that they would bring with them.
BI: By the time you get into the world of work, you're moving at a million miles an hour. And whilst everybody can invest in people's development, having that core set of capability by the time you graduate will really put our students at the top of the pile.
