Your Student Experience

The College of Arts and Law is committed to supporting you during your journey to university, during your time here as a student, and beyond. Whether you’re an undergraduate or postgraduate, our dedicated Student Experience Team provides a wide range of activities and initiatives designed to enhance and enrich the university experience for students across the College. The Student Experience Team works closely together with staff across the College to develop a range of enhancement activities for current students across Five Pillars, with Equality, Diversity and Inclusion and Sustainability running throughout our work.

Welcome and Transition

The Student Experience Team supports Welcome and Transition to ensure that you have plenty of information about what to expect from University and how to navigate student life, as well as opportunities to get to know your coursemates at Welcome Week socials, and to benefit from students in their second or final year of study via our Student Mentor Schemes.

Student Voice

If you have feedback about something academic-related, you should talk to the Student Representatives for your programme who will then raise it at the next Staff Student Forum. You can volunteer to be a Student Rep on the Guild of Students' Student Rep webpage

Student Community

The team organise socials and events throughout the year and work with our Student Experience Ambassadors on community-building initiatives such as drop-ins and social media campaigns.

If you have an idea for something new (e.g. an event or an activity), then do get in touch with your Student Experience Officer.

Student Communication

The Student Experience Team communicates with students in a variety of ways including newsletters, emails, School Canvas pages and social media.

Academic Enrichment

The Student Experience Team works on a range of academic enrichment opportunities, such as cultural and study trips, Dissertation showcases, and study retreats.

Equality, Diversity and Inclusivity (EDI)

The Student Experience Team works closely with the Equality, Diversity and Inclusion Reps and the EDI Ambassador for the College to make sure that the student voice is heard and responded to on these issues.

The team also organise events such as focus groups and community building opportunities for students by identity (e.g. commuter, parents and carers).

To find out more and to meet the team, please visit the Student Experience page of the Student Support Hub on Canvas.
