This event looks at key things that you can do during your PhD to develop your academic profile, all based around free training and development initiatives run by the University of Birmingham.
- Colleagues from the Research Skills team will outline how you can start to build your academic research profile and visibility, through their support in areas like social media for researchers and managing your online profile.
- Dr Els Van Gyte, Educational Developer in HEFi will outline teaching accreditations and other training that PGRs can take advantage of during their PhD in relation to teaching.
- Lauren Deere from the Public Engagement with Research team will give some pointers on how you can get involved in public engagement during your PhD, including initiatives run by the University’s own PER team.
To sum up, PGR Careers Adviser Holly Prescott will discuss how these activities can be helpful in specific parts of the academic application and interview process.
The event is designed to help you:
- Recognise some of the key training and development opportunities open to UoB PGRs in the areas of teaching, research profile and public engagement
- Learn more on how to access these opportunities
- Recognise how these kinds of training can help you develop your academic CV
A Zoom attendance link will be sent to you on registration, and in a reminder prior to the event.
