The Contemporary Academic: a guide for PGRs

What does it really take to pursue an academic career in the UK in the 2020s? We know that things like publications and teaching experience are important, but as a contemporary academic there are other metrics and priorities involved.

This event aims to 'demystify' some of these metrics and priorities that shape the current UK academic landscape, with a focus on Impact. You'll hear from colleagues from the Business Engagement and Research Impact team on some of the key ways in which academia has changed in the UK in recent years, and what this means for you when progressing in academia.

You'll also have the opportunity to hear from a panel of colleagues from across the university who are pursuing a range of academic career pathways, to find out what's really involved and how to put yourself in a good position.
