UGS Talks: Inspiration from our International Alumni (In-Person)

The University Graduate School presents ‘UGS Talks’ - an event series designed to bring UoB’s postgraduate community together with a range of thought-provoking talks. Introduced by senior academic staff, these talks from UoB postgraduate alumni will give you an insight into international career journeys and provide you with plenty of employability advice.

This event is made up of two halves - we'd love it if you could attend both parts, but if not, please book a ticket for whichever half you can attend!

If you're a postgraduate thinking ahead to where your postgraduate studies could take you, want to enhance your academic and social networks, or simply fancy a break from work with thought-provoking talks and conversation, this event is not to be missed!

Join 'UGS Talks: Inspiration from our International Alumni' for fascinating insights into life after postgraduate study, including reflections on how our alumni navigated the UK job market as former international students!

We will have inspiring talks from our two guest speakers, who will share their careers journeys: the highs and lows, the vital skills they learnt as postgraduates, and their advice to those graduating in the coming years. After their talks, there will be an audience Q+A.

We will announce who are guest speakers are on this page in due course - keep your eyes peeled!

All talks will be recorded and available afterwards for anyone unable to join us on campus.

UGS Talks - Networking

Book a ticket for our networking session after the talks and join your postgraduate community for drinks and nibbles: share your subject passion, your current projects and your future plans with our interdisciplinary postgraduate community.

Who is this event for?

This event is open to all current University of Birmingham postgraduates (postgraduate taught and postgraduate research). UoB staff who support or are interested in the postgraduate community are also welcome to register for this event.

PGR programmes include: MPhil, MMus, MRes, MA by Research, MSc by Research, MLitt, PhD, PhD with integrated study, EngD, DDS, MD, Higher doctorates and Professional doctorates.

PGT programmes include: MA, MSc, MBA, MEd, LLM, MPH, Maths SKE, MPA, PG Affiliate, PG Certificate, PG Dip Ed, PG Diploma, and PGCE.

Registration will close 24 hours before the event start time or when tickets are sold out.
