PhD Chat New to the UK

Being a PhD researcher is a hugely rewarding journey in many ways, but can also involve challenges. Any questions or concerns you have will be shared by others, so talking to fellow researchers and members of staff can help you on your PhD journey.

At PhD Chat you can meet other PGRs, ask questions and learn more about support that is available, whilst also sharing your own experiences and helping others. Each session involves an introduction to a specific topic related to pursuing a PhD, followed by informal group discussion and experience sharing.

This PhD Chat is especially for international students getting started with the first year of their PhD that are new to the UK. We'll talk about some common concerns and share top tips from current international PGRs. It'll be a great chance to meet some fellow PGRs over a cup of tea or coffee - come chat!
