New library resources 2024/25

We have invested in a range of new resources for 2024-2025. They include newspaper archives, encyclopedias on gender and sexuality and race, ethnicity and nationalism, and temporary access to the complete Oxford Handbooks Online.

  • Daily Mail Supplement (2005-2016): this historical archive includes more than one hundred years of this major UK national newspaper, viewable in full digital facsimile form, with copious advertisements, news stories, and images that capture twentieth-century culture and society.
  • Oxford Handbooks Online EBA: a collection of scholarly handbooks across many different subject areas. The Handbook series contains in-depth, high-level articles by scholars at the top of their field.
  • Taylor and Francis EBA: a collection of eBooks in science, technology, engineering, medicine, and social science, which are led by a global network of editors, authors
  • The Independent Historical Archive 1986-2016: The Independent is a major British daily national newspaper, launched in 1986 as an antidote to its often overtly political rivals. Featuring the work of journalists and columnists from across the political spectrum, the paper is generally regarded as centrist, presenting alternative perspectives on the news of the day.
  • The Listener Historical Archive, 1929-1991: The Listener was a weekly magazine established by the BBC in 1929 , it was developed as the medium for reproducing broadcast talks, initially on radio, but in later years television as well, and was the intellectual counterpart to the BBC listings magazine Radio Times.
