Unearthing the past: using archives and special collections for postgraduate research

This workshop will provide an introduction to archives, and a practical guide to help demystify Special Collections departments. We’ll explore how archives and special collections can be best used for your postgraduate research. We’ll have a guided practical session with an archivist using archive catalogues to search for relevant resources held locally, nationally, and internationally and we’ll look at primary sources held at the Cadbury Research Library, University of Birmingham. There will also be an opportunity to visit the searchroom at the Cadbury Research Library and go behind the scenes to see inside an archive strongroom.
