UoB among the UK's top 10 universities in the 2026 National Student Survey
We have ranked first in the Russell Group and among the UK’s top 10 universities in the 2026 National Student Survey (NSS)!
The NSS is completed by final-year undergraduate students and gives us valuable feedback on everything from teaching and assessment to academic support and the wider student experience. Your feedback helps us celebrate what’s working well and identify where we can do even better.
This year marks our best-ever NSS results, with an overall student satisfaction score of 87.4% – the highest in Birmingham’s history! We also saw improvements across every survey theme compared with last year, reflecting our commitment to providing an outstanding learning experience and the support you need to succeed.
Professor Adam Tickell, Vice-Chancellor and Principal, said: “The University of Birmingham unquestionably delivers a world-class education supported by an environment in which students can thrive, develop and realise their ambitions”.
These results add to a successful year for Birmingham as we were once again revealed as one of the top two UK universities most targeted by the country’s leading graduate employers, according to ‘The Graduate Market in 2026’.
The University has also risen eight places in this year’s QS World University Rankings to 68th, its highest position in a decade. Ranked equal tenth in the UK, Birmingham has, over the past five years, climbed more places – and done so more consistently – than any other British institution within the world’s top 100 universities.
Thank you to everyone who provides us with feedback, it helps shape the future of the Birmingham student experience. We hope everyone feels proud to be part of the University of Birmingham community as we celebrate our achievement.
