Today is International Women's Day
International Women's Day (IWD) on 8 March celebrates the social, economic, cultural, and political achievements of women and is a call to action to focus on the change still needed to achieve true global equality for women and girls.
To mark IWD, the University runs a diverse programme of events throughout March, focusing on women's voices, history, and experiences.
Highlights include:
- Equality, Diversity, and Inclusion Student Ambassadors Open Mic Poetry Night on Tuesday 21 March 2023 (18:15 – 19:30) in G33 Lecture Theatre, Aston Webb C Block.
- Women in Art: The Case of Vorticism. Online event with the Barber Institute of Fine Art considering the contrasting representation of women in art with the apparent erasure of them from art history. Thursday 23 March 2023 (19:00-20:00)
