What are my rights as a disabled student?

The right to equal opportunities for all students is underpinned by the Equality Act 2010. The Act entitles all students to be treated fairly and not be subjected to discrimination on the basis of age, disability, gender identity, marriage and civil partnership, pregnancy and maternity, race, religion or belief, sex and sexual orientation.

Equality and fair treatment are sometimes perceived as being about ‘minority rights’. However, all students can identify with at least some of these characteristics.

To find out more about equality and diversity, go the University's Equality & Diversity website.

A dedicated helpline for disabled students is provided by Disability Rights UK if you would like to find out more information about what support is available to you as a disabled student going to University.
