Let's get this Start-Up started

Let's get this Start-Up started is designed to give you a flavour of what's involved in the start-up journey. This programme gives you the opportunity to develop an idea, get funding and join our start-up community. With an opportunity to progress on to our four week start-up programme or the UoB Elevate programme in 2023.

Let's get this start-up started is a new entrepreneurship programme for students

The start-up programme has exclusive access to a funding pot of £10,000 available to eligible students and recent graduates. Applicants will be invited to apply for £500 to develop their idea into a business.

Eligibility for Programme funding

In order to secure fast track access to our funding, you must attend both sessions and submit a 2 minute video pitching your idea, what the £500 will enable you to do and why we should award you the funding. Please note, the funding pot is subject to availability and each application is reviewed on a case by case basis.

Due to visa restrictions only UK students can apply for this funding. International students looking to start a business in the UK after graduation can apply for the Start-Up Visa.

This is a unique opportunity to gain funding for our 'Let's get this start-up started' attendees. If you wish to seek other funding opportunities outside of this programme, please visit our Start-Up Funding webpage here.

By the end of the programme you will:

  • Have access to the start-up guidance and support available from Careers Network
  • Meet like-minded students looking to start their start-up adventure
  • Have learnt how to develop the business model around your idea and other future ideas you may have
  • Learn how to identify and target specific customers
