Higher Education Futures institute - HEFi

The aim of HEFi is to support academic staff to deliver effective and innovative teaching throughout their careers. We are a research-intensive institution, and our research-led teaching ensures that our students are engaged in research-intensive learning.

HEFi brings into one institute all our staff development activity for academic staff and staff who support learning and teaching; digital education innovation and support; and research on teaching practice.

Over the next 12 months as HEFi becomes fully embedded, academic staff and students will see a number of changes including:

•A new ‘micro-CPD’ topic available to staff each week
•Opportunities for staff and students to analyse teaching practices together
•Expanded digital support
•New research on higher education learning and teaching
•News and updates from the sector
•An extension of the Big Conversation blog
•A new and more accessible innovation base on campus where HEFi staff will be co-located
•Details of a major conference on the 29th June 2018 that will be streamed and available to interested colleagues across the sector
•New appointments, including a research Chair to lead HEFi and a new round of Birmingham (Education Innovation) Fellows.
