The Library's Research Skills Team offers a range of training opportunities for researchers.

Tea with a research librarian

Each Tuesday, at 15:00-16:00 (from 16 January 2024), one of our Research Skills Advisors makes themselves a cup of tea and waits patiently for your questions. Join them via Zoom to keep them company, and ask anything research skills or library-related.

  • Using FindIt@Bham effectively: you can also drop into our FindIt@Bham face to face sessions 12:00-13:00 on Thursday 18 January 2024 and Wednesday 6 March 2024 in the Main Library Training Room (fourth floor)

Coffee mornings in the Researcher Suite

On the first Thursday of each month, 11.00-12.00, the Research Skills Team host a relaxed coffee morning in the first floor Researcher Suite in the Main Library. Join us for a cuppa and a biscuit, and a chat about anything library-related.

Shut up and work

A day for you to work on your own writing, planning or literature discovery in a quiet but supportive environment. There will be time to set targets at the beginning of the day and there will be regular planned breaks to enable you to network with colleagues or take a walk.

We offer one-to-one appointments on library-related research skills.

Digital Skills

The ASC Digital Skills resources offer online training in using MS Office software, statistical software, digital images, and more. You can also book a one-to-one appointment with a Digital Skills Advisor.
