About Campus Services

Made up of nearly one thousand staff, the Campus Services (previously HAS) department is a dynamic and forward thinking team, contributing towards many aspects of the student experience. The department are responsible for delivering many of the exciting projects that are taking place around campus at the moment, including the amazing new sport and fitness centre and upcoming conference hotel. We were also responsible for the recently completed Chamberlain re-development project, Global Village initiative and previously the opening of the Bramall Music Building in 2012.

Campus Services are in control of the day to day operations of the University of Birmingham. We keep the campus safe via our security team, feed over 30,000 students (and visitors) in our catering outlets, and even manage all of the letters and parcels across campus via our Postal team. The clean and tidy campus in which we work is thanks to the hard work of our cleaning services team; and our environmental services team ensure that rubbish and recycling is dealt with in a timely and efficient manner.

Other key operations within Campus Services include three Ofsted-registered day nurseries, providing creative outdoor learning opportunities and child-centred in welcoming, home-from-home settings. The award-winning Worklink team efficiently place students in work across the University. Winterbourne House and Garden share a seven-acre botanic garden and restored Arts and Crafts house, now a museum, with the public as well as staff and students. Conferences & events provide event management, venues, accommodation and catering for everything from academic conferences to outdoor festivals.

Campus Services are truly the lifeblood of the university. Without this team and the work that they undertake, the student and staff experience would be far poorer.
