University of Birmingham Motorcycle User Group

We are a relatively new group of University of Birmingham staff and students formed by bikers for bikers.

Whatever type of machine you ride whether it's a:

  • Moped
  • Sports bike
  • Scooter
  • Tourer
  • Trike

There are at least one other of us on campus.

We are an informal group of like minded people who ride, commute or just tinker with motorcycles (old or new).

Security

Make sure you lock your bike, everytime, lamp post, fence post or at least put a disk lock or a D-lock on it.
10 seconds is all it takes to lift a motorbike into the back of a van, then its gone.

As part of the University's 'Lock it, don't lose it' campaign D-locks are available for staff and students to buy at a discounted rate (£15 staff and students) from the Security Reception. For more details visit the Cycling page.

Parking

Parking your motorcycle on campus is currently free of charge, however, if you are a student, member of staff or a long-term visitor, you should register your motorcycle with Car Parking Services.
There is limited dedicted motorcyle parking on campus so we ask that you park your motorcycle sensibly by your building of work, away from any fire doors and not causing an obstruction to other vehicles, pedestrians or impeding access for emergency vehicles.  Motorcycles should not occupy car parking bays and should not be attached to bicycle racks.
