Office 365 is a cloud-based suite of productivity tools, offered by Microsoft, that allows users to work in teams, chat, video, conference, share documents and edit them in real-time, amongst many other features. Following a small, successful pilot, the project team is now scoping a wider rollout to the University.
Benefits of the rollout are thought to include more efficient ways of working, reduced reliance on emails and helping people to avoid using third-party services, which are not as secure and sometimes costly. The rollout scoping includes looking at the best way to configure and deploy the tools in a technical sense, as well as investigating the value they will bring to users across the University and what might make it difficult to start using the tools, so that appropriate support and guidance can be given to users.
