The first weeks in a new role are often filled with questions. A warm welcome and successful induction period are key for you to settle into your new post as quickly as possible.
Here at the University of Birmingham we are committed to providing you with all the information you need. Induction at the University comes in three stages: central, College and local.
Central induction
The University is a large and complex organisation, therefore to complement your local induction you will attend a central induction event which is hosted by the People and Organisational Development (POD) team. This will give you a general introduction to the University and the chance to meet other employees who are also new to the University.
A short presentation from either a member of the University Executive Board or Senior Officer will give an overview of University life and position within Higher Education. Your Line Manager will organise for you to attend this induction. Alternatively you can register on the Central Induction course page or email pod@contacts.bham.ac.uk
If you haven't already, please take time to read through the information at our central induction website
College induction
In addition to this induction website, the College has a regularly updated intranet site containing detailed information and guidance from each professional service team in the College.
Our news / events pages are available to you now. For the remainder of the site you will be required to login with the username and password provided when in post.

Local induction
Now that you have been provided with an overview of the University, the College and what you can enjoy as an employee, your Area and local line manager will ensure that your induction will be as positive an experience as possible.
Should you have any questions or queries please contact your line manager or the HR team via the HR service portal: intranet.birmingham.ac.uk/hr
