Our media profile has seen a significant increase in the last six months with Business School academics appearing in a range of newspapers and news programmes. Here are some examples:

Dr Pam Robinson became a major commentator during the horsemeat scandal. Coverage highlights included multiple interviews with BBC Midlands Today, ITV Daybreak, Sky News, Sky News Sunrise, the Daily Telegraph, Daily Mail, BBC Radion 5 Live, BBC WM, and BBC Wales. She was also quoted in the New York Times/International Herald Tribune.

Prof John Bryson – In addition to his appearance on BBC Midlands Today, Prof Bryson was also interviewed by ITV News about shopping trends and the success of the high street in the lead up to Christmas

Dr Gill Bentley appeared on BBC News Night talking about LEPs as well as appearances Channel 4 News, BBC Radio WM and Heart FM.

Prof Isabelle Szmigin wrote an article for the Guardian on alcohol pricing, was asked by the BBC to attend a “BBC expert” conference and makes regular appearances in local press and radio.

Prof John Fender appeared in the Financial Times talking about what the UK economy would look like if coal mines had not closed, and was also on a number of local radio programmes talking about the Budget.

Dr Geraint Harvey was on BBC WM Breakfast in his first week in the post talking about the government’s Fit for Work scheme

Prof Indrajit Ray, commented on ‘game theory’ in relation to the Pope’s election for the Associated Press. Prof Ray was also the expert on the state budget in West Bengal, India for the newspaper Ebela (Bengali daily).

Dr Pat Hanlon appeared on BBC Radio 5 Live talking about the government’s mid-term review.

Prof David Maddison, featured in ITV.com’s report that stated living near a landfill site could reduce your house price. The research was also widely reported in the local print press.

Dr Andrew Pressey, has written an article for The Conversation and was also quoted in the UK’s widest read, most influential daily newspaper… The Sun!
