European Trade Study Group Annual Conference: 12-14 September 2013
The Birmingham Business School has been awarded the right to host the prestigious European Trade Study Group (ETSG) conference on campus. The ETSG (www.etsg.org) is the largest conference of trade economists in the world and is attended by over 300 participants, all of whom will present an academic paper.
The fields of International Business and of International Economics are two of the major areas of research and teaching of the Birmingham Business School. The selection of the School to organise the conference is recognition of its significance contribution to these research fields. We are honoured by this decision.
The ETSG was founded in 1999 as an open network to facilitate international exchanges among senior and junior researchers in international trade and economic geography, and it now by far the most successful group of its type in the world. The annual conferences of the ETSG attract participants from international institutions like the World Bank, the WTO, and the OECD and from leading Universities from around the globe.
The conference discusses, among others, the latest questions associated with trade policy, international trade and foreign direct investment, labour mobility, the labour market outcomes of trade and FDI, outsourcing, the international trade of services, the environmental impacts of trade and FDI.
Prof Cillian Ryan, Prof Robert Elliott, Dr Mike Henry and Dr Liza Jabbour form the local organising committee.
