The Entrepreneurship and Diversity Research Cluster

francisThe aim of the Entrepreneurship and Diversity Research Cluster (ERDC) is to provide a forum for colleagues both in the Business School and across the University to come together and set an agenda that asks the big important research questions about entrepreneurship and diversity issues.

Professor Francis Greene is the Director of the ERDC. His role as Director of the EDRC is to encourage you to help set and shape this agenda. Your interests may be aligned to our (current) interests. You, too, might be interested in why is it that some groups in society are more (or less) likely to become entrepreneurs; how can we better support business fast paced business growth; or, to give a final example, what can finance providers do to help entrepreneurial firms. If you share an interest in these types of research area, why not get in touch with Professor Greene? The cluster sees that there are real benefits from cross-fertilising ideas.

Alternatively, you may have emerging research interests that can lead to theoretically and empirically relevant research in the entrepreneurship and diversity domain. As already mentioned, the EDRC is interested in research that informs and shapes research agendas. The EDRC also value different methodologies. One advantage of the cluster is that it is home to both quantitative and qualitative approaches. Whilst Professor Greene personally leans more towards quantitative methodologies, key members of the cluster such as Professors Monder Ram and Kiran Trehan have extensive research experience in using qualitative approaches. What cluster members all share – which is perhaps the most distinctive feature of the ERDC – is a commitment to making a difference with firms, with support providers and with policy makers. All of the members of ERDC want to work actively with these communities. Again, if you share this passion, do get in touch with Professor Greene.
