Pastures New

Good-bye and best wishes to Rodrigo Ormeno-Perez (Lecturer in the Department of Accounting), Kean Ow-Yong (Lecturer in the Department of Finance) and Meng Song (Research Fellow in the Department of Strategy and International Business) who each left the School at the end of August. We wish them well in their future endeavors.

Also, ‘good-bye’ to Danielle Rowe, PA to the Deputy Dean and Operations Manager, who left the School on 16 September to join the University’s Business Engagement team as Business Engagement Officer for Social Sciences and Life & Environmental Sciences. Making the short trip across campus from the Business School, Danielle will work with Andy Newnham (Business Engagement Partner for Social Sciences) and Sue Wilde-Greer (Business Engagement Partner for Life and Environmental Sciences) to develop the impact, influence and income from their research collaborations with external businesses. The BE team are very excited to have Danielle join them!

A fond farewell also to Becca Raley, External Relations Administrator, who left the School at the end of October to take up a new role in the School Of Engineering.

University House Reception

There are three pieces of information to update you about relating to Reception this autumn –

Firstly, as of 12 September, University House Receptionists Nicola Platt and Paulet Elliott formally became an integral part of the School Hub and Administration Team under the guidance of Sandra McCalla, School Hub Manager and PA to the Dean. Nicola and Paulet’s core activities will remain the same.

Secondly, as of the start of the 2016/17 term, there is no longer evening Reception cover in University House from 6.15 – 9PM as previously. This is in line with practice in other Schools.  A telephone, complete with handy and emergency contact numbers, is available on Reception should this be required. Security will continue to lock the building at 9PM.

In exceptional instances evening Reception cover can be arranged in advance should this be required to support an evening event in the building. Please liaise directly with Sandra McCalla should you wish to discuss this possibility further.

Finally, Paulet and Nicola on Reception will continue to advertise their scheduled monthly stationary orders in the New Year in order to assist you in making any special requests for upcoming events.

Orders will be placed on the 1st of every month; if the 1st falls on the weekend or a Bank Holiday it will be the first working day following this. This is with the exception of January when orders will be placed on Monday 16th to give colleagues time to settle back in after the holidays. Throughout 2017 Paulet and Nicola will advertise scheduled dates in the monthly newsletter, as well as sending out reminder emails nearer to the time when the next order is due.
