Pastures new

Good-bye and best wishes to three Professional Services colleagues who leave the School on 22 July – Luke McFarlane (PA to the Director of Education and Director of Research), Connie Speller Bamford (Programme Administrator in the Doctoral Research Office) and Chantelle Bateman (External Relations Co-ordinator). We wish them well in their respective new ventures.

Additionally, Laura Forrest will leave the School in early August having successfully completed both years of the University’s Graduate Management Scheme. Margaret Jelleyman, Laura’s line manager for her 12-month placement in the School, extends her thanks for Laura’s significant contributions to the Quality Assurance and Accreditation Team; whilst Laura offers her personal reflections on her time working in the School -

‘Although we knew this time would come, for those who have worked with Laura you’ll know that we shall be losing a valued colleague and I’d like to formally pass my thanks to Laura for her contributions to the Quality Assurance and Accreditation Team over the past 12 months.

Laura has contributed to a number of successful projects in the School, some mentioned in her article. One of her legacies is the development of sites within SharePoint to deliver enhanced and more efficient methods of collection and distribution of information. The EQUIS Peer Review Team complemented the SharePoint baseroom, and many of you are using the new online Module Review forms. The University’s Graduate Training Scheme has provided the School with an “extra pair of hands” during 2015/16 to support process improvements; there are many examples of where Laura has developed and supported this agenda. As Laura moves from the Graduate Training Scheme into her new role within the University I’m sure that everyone will want to join me in wishing her the very best for her future career.

Looking slightly to the future, Beulah Corbett (Academic Support Administrator) will leave the School on Friday 26 August. Again, we offer ‘best wishes’ for her new job.

Emma Ward will be leaving the School in early September to take up an exciting new role at the University of Warwick. Ian Hamley offers his thanks and congratulations on behalf of the School -

The following week Emma Ward (Head of External Relations) is moving on after 2 years in the School – Emma has been successful in gaining a senior role at the University of Warwick and her last day in the office will be Friday 2 September 2016. Emma has contributed a huge amount to the School over the past 2 years especially regarding the management of a complex brand redesign, raising the School’s profile, leading the External Relations Team of BBS, developing and managing key relationships with strategically critical external partners and stakeholders and initiating a number of strategic projects to name just a handful of notable achievements. There are many many more! Emma’s friendly personality, ‘can do’ attitude and calmness will be missed. On behalf of the School, I would like to extend our thanks and gratitude to Emma and wish her well in her future career. We are starting to develop interim line management arrangements pending approval to fill the role on a permanent basis. More details will be available in due course.
