Our Brand/Product: Welcome to TargEye! We meet the critical need for Rheumatoid arthritic patients with manual dexterity issues to effectively self-administer eye drop medication. TargEye aims to help patients who have difficulty with 'pinch grip' that inhibit eye drop administration. TargEye focuses on the user experience, revolutionising the current method of eye drop administration.
Our Story: The TargEye team were inspired by the unmet clinical need of Rheumatoid Arthritic patients and their difficulties while self-administering eye drops. These difficulties include squeezing the eye drop bottles as well as a lack of accuracy and inadequate precision when applying the eye drop. 400,000 people in the UK have Rheumatoid Arthritis, 100,000 of these patients suffer from eye problems that require eye drop medication. Many rheumatoid arthritic patients struggle with achieving the 'pinch grip' (squeezing between index finger and thumb) which is required for squeezing eye drop bottles. This prevents effective treatment and leads to poor medication compliance. TargEye's device eliminates the need for 'pinch grip', mitigating the lack of precision and accuracy, revolutionising the current standard of care. Our product prioritises ease of use and gives autonomy back to the patient.
Next Phase: Working at the Exchange will immerse TargEye within a community of like-minded individuals who are aiming to create innovative healthcare solutions. We are looking forward to networking with other start-up founders, gaining their insights and learning from their experiences. Furthermore, we believe that we'll bring our unique skillset and experiences to add to the array of talent in the community. We are honoured by the prospect of being under the tutelage of leading industry experts via UOB Elevate. Within this growing community of aspiring entrepreneurs, we hope to use the programme as a platform to scale the business nationally and internationally.
Get Involved: TargEye has a clear roadmap for developing the product, and how to navigate regulatory approval to meet a big clinical need. We are confident that TargEye will become the main eye drop administration method, surpassing the current standards of care. We aim to substantially improve the quality of life for rheumatoid arthritis patients. We are looking for an investment of fifteen thousand pounds. Our investors will recognise the increasingly large market for our product. Our investment will be allocated to a design engineer, a MedTech consultant, securing IP, fulfilling regulatory requirements, and establishing a patient focus group. Our one-year plan includes a final aim of producing a fully functional 3D model of our device, through iterations of prototypes, and trialing our device on several rounds of focus groups. Within one year, we hope to establish a fully functional prototype and will be preparing to apply for the required regulatory approvals.
