Professional Development Events

The Placements team will advertise any information events and workshops for College of Social Sciences students in their penultimate-year on this page.

We will be holding some information sessions on Wednesday 28th of January where you can hear more details about the module. We will also share information about the support you can access when searching for a placement and you will have the opportunity to hear from current final-year students who have completed the module (including a Q&A). There is no need to book in advance - you can just turn up on the day!

Professional Development Module Information Session (for Business School Students):

  • When: Wednesday 28th January 2026 (14:00-15:00) 
  • Where: Room 429 Muirhead Tower
  • Who: Students in their penultimate year e.g. Year 2 or Year 3 in a four-year course from Birmingham Business School (BBS)*

Professional Development Module Information Session (for students studying Education, Government, Liberal Arts, Social Policy, Sociology and Criminology):

  • When: Wednesday 28th January 2026 (15:00-16:00) 
  • Where: Room 429 Muirhead Tower
  • Who: Students in their penultimate year e.g. Year 2 or Year 3 in a four-year course from the following Schools: Education, Government, Liberal Arts, Social Policy, Sociology and Criminology*

*Please note that the Professional Development Module is only available to students in the College of Social Sciences (excluding Social Work) and Liberal Arts. 

Careers Network Events

Careers Network also host a variety of events and workshops that can help you in your search for a placement and your wider career planning.

Some events allow you to drop-in and others will require you to pre-book your place, you can book your place through Careers Connect.
