The Birmingham Award (formerly the Personal Skills Award) is the University of Birmingham's optional employability award for all students.
The Personal Skills Award (PSA) re-launched as The Birmingham Award in 2023/24. After a period of consultation with students, staff and employers, The Birmingham Award has been designed to increase flexibility for students and to recognise a broader spectrum of activities to better reflect the diversity of experiences of students.
Supported by a range of employers, The Birmingham Award enables all students to develop, recognise and articulate their skills effectively in preparation for the graduate employment market.
About The Birmingham Award
The award is open for all students to participate in from their first year to their final year. The Birmingham Award offers a gateway to engage in, and be formally recognised for, over 200 on-campus extra-curricular activities.
To complete The Birmingham Award, students must declare their participation in 4 extra-curricular activities, submit a CV or LinkedIn profile and complete a competency-based question. Students complete the award through a Pathway on Careers Connect.
