- Registering with a GP
- Accessing sexual health services
- Nutrition tips to keep you healthy
- The benefits of good sleep
Updating your personal details
Keeping us up to date with your contact info, emergency contacts, and identity details helps us reach you quickly in an emergency. It’s easy to make changes via My Details on the MyUoB app or the intranet.
Registering with a GP
If you’re new to Birmingham, you’ll need to register with a doctor to make sure you can access healthcare when you need to. We’ve put together a guide to help you understand the UK health service.
Sexual health services
As well as your GP, there are plenty of other resources to help you take care of your sexual health.
- Umbrella offers free sexual health services including home testing kits, contraception advice, and emergency contraception across Birmingham.
- Specialist support is also available from Birmingham LGBT, including nurse-led clinics, HIV testing, counselling, and wellbeing services.
Nutrition tips
Cooking at home is a great way to make sure you’re getting the right vitamins and minerals to keep you healthy as we head into winter. Try easy, student-friendly recipes from BBC Good Food or check out the Guild of Students’ Community Cookbook.pdf. If you’re concerned about your eating habits, please speak with your GP.
The benefits of good sleep
Sleep is key to wellbeing, it boosts memory, mood, immunity, and performance. Prioritising rest is one of the simplest ways to feel better. Struggling with sleep? Check out our self-help guide for tips on improving your routine.
