Go Global Summer Applications are OPEN

2 weeks to go until our Go Global Summer Round 2 deadline!

As part of Go Global Summer 2025, we have a range of international opportunities to suit different backgrounds, interests and personal circumstances – there is something for everyone!

We wanted to share some fully or significantly funded opportunities ideal for Birmingham Scholars!

Morocco Atlas Outreach

A volunteering programme focussing on agriculture, village infrastructure and classroom revamps in Moroccan mountain communities.

Finance:

  • This is a fully funded opportunity (accommodation, food, flights and some weekend activities are all included).
  • Costs to consider: Students are responsible for fundraising £300 to support the local community, and should also budget for any spending money/additional activities they wish to participate in.

Common Purpose Global Futures Cultural Programme (Hong Kong)

Through leadership workshops, cultural immersion activities and spending time with local businesses, government agencies, NGOs and in communities, students will get beneath the surface of the city of Hong Kong.

Finance:

  • Students’ accommodation, flights, programme fee and airport transfers will be paid for by UoB.
  • Costs to consider: Students should budget for meals, in-country travel and spending money for the full duration of the programme

Internship with Nasio Trust (Kenya)

Complete an internship with the Nasio Trust in Musanda (1 hour away from Kisumu, a city on the shore of Lake Victoria). Nasio Trust is a UK-based charity and Kenyan NGO, with a mission of breaking the cycle of poverty by addressing Education, Healthcare and Sustainable Livelihoods.

Finance:

  • Accommodation and meals provided, and paid for
  • Students will receive a contribution towards flights, visa and vaccinations via the Turing Scheme
  • Costs to consider: personal expenses

Camp New York (United States)

Spend your Summer working at a children’s camp in the US!

Finance: paid opportunity but there are upfront costs to consider.

Summer Schools with Exchange Places

Exchange places are available for these opportunities, meaning no programme/tuition fees are involved. Each opportunity is marked with information about other anticipated costs e.g. accommodation, flights, living costs.

As Birmingham Scholars, you would be eligible to receive a higher grant through the Turing Scheme, which acts as a significant contribution towards the cost of taking part in the below opportunities.
