Birmingham Scholar Transport Grant Update

We are pleased to share an update on the Birmingham Scholar Travel Grant, funded by the Ellucian Foundation PATH Scholarship. This grant was designed to support students who required financial support with travel costs linked to their studies, placements, research, or professional development opportunities.

The University of Birmingham received this funding in the 2025/26 academic year, supporting our commitment to providing targeted support to Birmingham Scholar students as they worked towards their academic and career goals.

The grant prioritised students from IMD Quintile 1 neighbourhoods, helping to reduce financial barriers and improve access to opportunities involving travel and experiential activities.

For this round of funding, we received 159 applications, of which 122 students were successfully funded. This reflects both the strong demand for travel support and the positive impact the grant has had in enabling students to take part in valuable academic and professional opportunities.

We are grateful to the Ellucian Foundation, DARO, the Careers Network and to all the students who applied and engaged with the process. We are pleased to have been able to support so many journeys through this scheme.
