We are pleased to invite Rebbecca Hemmings, Director of Strawberry Words LTD to share her life story and how she overcome challenges to achieve success. During the event, you will have an opportunity to ask questions to Rebbecca. The event will be followed by a networking session with pizza/samosas and refreshments.
About the speaker:
Rebbecca Hemmings describes herself as a British Born Jamaican of African heritage who exists to help create a level playing field for culturally marginalised people.
She is also the multi-award-winning Founder and Director of Strawberry Words training consultancy, based in Birmingham, UK. The company is dedicated to enhancing human relationships and improving the lives of culturally marginalised people. Rebbecca has 25 years’ experience of delivering training in cultural awareness, antiracism, and community engagement. 2022, saw Rebbecca receive Educator of the Year award from the Black Owned Business Birmingham in recognition of her services over the last 25 years.
She founded her company in 2002, originally working in schools to help children to explore their cultures and identities.
Now, in addition to designing accredited courses, Strawberry Words trainers deliver training workshops, specialising in facilitating safe conversations on microaggressions, allyship, systemic racism, and unconscious bias. She has delivered talks and training internationally and in the U.K. for entities such as Avanti West Coast, Birmingham 2022 Festival, The Prince’s Trust, The University of Cambridge, The University of Birmingham, and Coventry City of Culture.
Rebbecca has a Degree in Arts Practice and Cultural Policy, a Post Graduate Certificate in Community Practice, a Coaching qualification from the European Mentoring and Coaching Council and is an alumni member at Coventry University, Staffordshire University and Common Purpose.
As the former TV presenter for the Wassifa Caribbean show, Rebbecca is no stranger to broadcasting and is also the host of the Compassionate Cultures podcast.
