The My Right to Study system will guide you to upload the correct documents for your visa type. It will also give you important information about what the uploaded document should show. You can use this page to find out what you will need to upload before you access the system.

Student Route visa
The documents you must upload are:
- The biometric (photo) page of your passport
- Your eVisa share code
If you applied for your visa from outside the UK, the documents you will bring to your in-person appointment are:
- Your passport
- Your boarding pass or travel ticket for your journey to the UK
If you applied for your visa whilst in the UK, the documents you will bring to your in-person appointment are:
- Your passport
- A copy of your visa application showing the date that you applied
You will see the option to upload additional documents in the My Right to Study system, which will be marked 'optional'. You only need to upload these if the International Students Team tell you to.
Visitor Visa
You may have this type of visa if you are studying for up to six months in the UK.
The document you must upload is:
- The biometric (photo) page of your passport
The documents you will bring to your in-person appointment are:
- Your passport
- Your boarding pass or travel ticket for your journey to the UK.
You will see the option to upload additional documents in the My Right to Study system, which will be marked 'optional'. You only need to upload these if the International Students Team tell you to.
Other visa types
This includes: asylum/refugee visas, EU Settled and Pre-Settled status, Global Talent, Leave to Remain (other visa routes), Indefinite Leave to Remain (other visa routes), spouse/partner and dependent visas, Skilled Worker visas, and British National Overseas.
The documents you must upload are:
- The biometric (photo) page of your passport
- Your eVisa share code
You will also need to bring your passport and any additional documents you hold to your in-person appointment.
You will see the option to upload additional documents in the My Right to Study system, which will be marked 'optional'. You only need to upload these if the International Students Team tell you to.
Additional requirements or variations:
- If you have submitted your visa application whilst in the UK, but have not yet received your visa decision, you should provide evidence of your visa application.
- If you have recently received or applied for UK/Irish citizenship, please upload or provide evidence of your UK/Irish passport or certificate of naturalisation.
- If you have an asylum/refugee visa type, you should upload the documents you have available from:

- eVisa share code
- Evidence of your residency in the UK
