About the Multi-Faith Chaplaincy

The Multi-Faith Chaplaincy offers an inclusive space for prayer, meditation, relaxation and worship, among many other activities. All staff and students are welcome to visit us – it does not matter if you are religious or not.

We are based at St Francis Hall, next to the Guild of Students, where most of our events and activities take place. We have a number of faith leaders from different religions and you can talk to one of our Chaplains. The original Chaplaincy building was donated by Edward Cadbury and opened in 1937. St Francis Hall was extended to its current size in 1969. The number of chaplains and faiths represented has steadily grown over the years.

The Multi-Faith Chaplaincy hosts many events and activities throughout the year - from meditation and Friday prayers, to Mass and yoga sessions.  Throughout the year, we also celebrate and support a wide range of major religious holy days and festival. The Inter Faith Network lists information on major holy days and festival dates

Many of the student-led faith societies at the University organise events at the Multi-Faith Chaplaincy. We also have a number of rooms available to book at St Francis Hall for University groups. These are suitable for a diverse range of events and we have a selection of room sizes.

The Chaplaincy is also a place for University staff and students, as well as the wider community to meet for a variety of services and ceremonies. Please contact the Multi-Faith Chaplaincy Team for further information. In early September, we will release our timetable of Welcome Week activities and opportunities to get involved in the life of the Chaplaincy as well as further details about room bookings.

We continue to play an active part in campus life, supporting students and providing a spiritual home at the University.
