Introductory Statement

My name is Adil Saleem and I am a part time recognised chaplain here at the University of Birmingham.

My role as a part time recognised Muslim chaplain is to support staff and students.  This includes leading prayers, offering religious and pastoral care, supporting student led events, as well as acting as a faith advisor to the university.  My vision is to provide a holistic approach which seeks to ensure staff and students feel comfortable and safe in practicing their faith on campus.

I have experience as a healthcare chaplain having worked for the NHS and also have many years experience in the community as an imam and teacher offering religious and spiritual support.

I am Birmingham born and bred. I gained a BSc and MSc in Construction project management and have vast industry experience in project management.  I have also gained a diploma in the Arabic language and a BA in Islamic law.

I have a great passion for character building and reform. My work focusses on working together to bring about positive change at a community level which will gradually lead to a greater and more harmonious society.
