It’s just one more week until the Green Heart transforms into full summer festival vibes (even if it rains!) for the launch of UoB Xtra. We’re talking roller rink, inflatables, outdoor cinema, arcade games, tabletop games, free ice cream and candy floss… all waiting for you to drop in and enjoy!

Alongside the fun, there’s a packed programme of completely free, bookable events and training sessions designed to help you connect, unwind and learn more. Many events are already full, so here’s our highlights of what you can still join if you act fast.

Skills sessions

Reach Respect: relationship safety training – Delivered by Women’s Aid exclusively for UoB students, this half‑day course is ideal if you want to feel more confident in your own relationships, support others, or are considering careers in healthcare, teaching or social work.

From awkward to effective: how to have better conversations – Learn practical peer‑to‑peer coaching techniques to handle team dynamics, improve collaboration and communicate more confidently in group projects or the workplace.

HSBC’s Smart Money Programme - Boost your financial confidence with six online sessions covering budgeting, saving, debt, tax and employability.

Save a Life workshop – A practical session run by Sport & Fitness to teach essential lifesaving skills.

Automated external defibrillator training – This Automated External Defibrillator (AED) course from RLSS UK teaches you how to give effective CPR and use an AED – meaning you feel confident if an emergency occurs requiring lifesaving CPR.

Canva Hackathon – Be in with a chance to win £200 in gift vouchers in this fast-paced creative challenge where you’ll work in a team to solve a real brief using Canva, AI tools, strategy, storytelling, design, ideas, and quick thinking.
