What's on for week two of UoB Xtra?

It’s another packed week at UoB Xtra, and there are still so many brilliant ways to boost your skills, meet new people and enjoy yourself on campus – or from home! Whether you’re looking to build your CV, explore new ideas, or simply unwind after a busy term, there’s something happening every single day.

Below is your guide to some of the standout events running 15–19 June, plus a spotlight on online sessions you can join wherever you are.

15 June: Kick off with creativity, impact and hands‑on learning

Monday brings a huge mix of opportunities — from the Impact Challenge running all week, to a full‑day Video Content Creation Workshop for anyone wanting to build their personal brand through video. If you’re exploring your next steps, don’t miss Top Tips for Job Searching (online), or drop into Spotlight on Technology and Engineering in the Main Library.

For something reflective, Bread and Belief: Power offers a thoughtful lunchtime session in the Multifaith Chaplaincy.

16 June: A big day for skills, storytelling and wellbeing

Tuesday is bursting with activity. You can:

• Learn essential emergency skills in the Save a Life workshop
• Explore performance and communication in Voice & Text with the RSC
• Try the Alexander Technique to present with greater ease and build confidence
• Get started with British Sign Language in healthcare
• Support Youth Mental Health First Aid
• Or dive into creativity with Storytelling Across Worlds

Plus, two Ten Talks sessions run both on campus and online, exploring what shapes a life and how we connect in a disconnected world.

17 June: Mid‑week momentum: research, creativity and careers

Wednesday brings a blend of research, arts and career development:

• A Digital Media Murder Mystery experience
• Give Back, Gain Skills volunteering day
• Presenting with Confidence
• Spotlights on Health & Science or Creative, Culture and Legal
• Watercolours and Wind Down for a relaxing creative break

Online learners can join HSBC Smart Money: Reaching Your Savings Goals, or tune into Ten Talks sessions on infrastructure, law and complex human challenges.

The day ends with music on the Green Heart and a Pop‑Rock choir rehearsal open to all.

18 June: Deep‑dive learning and postgraduate support

Thursday is ideal for anyone wanting to build confidence, explore research or develop specialist skills.

19 June: A musical finish to the week

Friday brings a calmer but still vibrant end to the week, with two Summer Festival of Music performances in the Bramall (a matinee vocal performance and an evening jazz orchestra) and an online HSBC Smart Money session on borrowing and managing debt.
