New students: get your MenB vaccination during Welcome

Starting university is an exciting time, but it's also important to look after your health as you settle into student life.

If you're a new student and haven't already had your MenB vaccination, you can get protected during Welcome at the University's on-campus vaccination clinic.

What is MenB?

Meningococcal B (MenB) disease is a rare but serious bacterial infection that can cause meningitis and blood poisoning (septicaemia). Students can be at increased risk due to close contact with lots of new people in shared accommodation and social settings.

How does the vaccine work?

The government has introduced a MenB vaccination programme for students starting university in autumn 2026.

It requires two doses, at least 28 days apart – so whether you're yet to have your first dose or need to complete the course, now is a great time to get protected.

Our pop-up vaccination clinic will be available on campus during Welcome, making it quick and convenient to fit around your arrival and induction activities.
