Inspirational UoB student set to graduate after battling brain cancer
During his second year BA Russian and Spanish student Ned Hilton was sadly diagnosed with a grade 4 medulloblastoma, a form of brain cancer, after suffering hearing loss the year before.
He bravely set out to undergo treatment, including 22 hours of surgery followed by intensive radiotherapy and chemotherapy treatment, putting his studies and future on hold.
Now, after treatment, Ned has defied the odds by handing in his final assignment of his degree and is set to graduate in December this year. But that hasn’t stopped him!
Days later, Ned jumped from a height of 10,000 ft raising more than £1,900 for Brain Tumour Research. He said: “The feeling of finishing uni has been incredible. With the support of family and friends, I have overcome so much, and I feel proud of myself. To top it off with a skydive to raise money for a cause which means so much to me, after everything I have been through, was brilliant.”
Ned now hopes to travel the world before beginning his career and continues fundraising for Brain Tumour Research.
Congratulations on your incredible achievement Ned!
